The Rochester ProAm exists because of the generosity of our community, thanks to monetary and volunteer support. Here’s how you can volunteer to support our tournament.
Can you host one or more world-class squash players in your home for any number of days from April 7 to 12, 2026, or drive players at any time during that period? Details on what hosting and driving entails are summarized below.
A long-time host family fondly reminds us: “We always get back more than we give.” Hosting players is often a rewarding experience in many dimensions. Hosting a player, who you will soon think of as “My Player”, suddenly immerses you deeply in thrill of the competition. As you spend time with your player, you will come to understand the dedication and discipline of a professional athlete. If time allows, your player may offer to get on the court with you and hit, and perhaps offer a few pointers.
Many players return to Rochester because of the hospitality. Many hosts continue to house players year after year because of the memorable interactions on and off the court with their players. Many hosts develop and maintain relationships with their players long after the tournament is over.

Volunteer to Host
Players will start arriving on Tuesday, April 7, some may only arrive on Wednesday, and some may stay as late as Monday, April 13. However, most players do not stay for the tournament duration; many leave the day after they lose. For example, half of the entrants will lose on Wednesday, April 8, and are likely to leave on April 9. If you’re interested in hosting one or more players, even for a few days during April 7-13, please let us know when you can host. We’ll contact you once the player roster is finalized in late March. Hosts should be prepared to provide their player breakfast, and possibly lunch or dinner. The tournament will provide players with tickets for lunch and dinner at the UR student dining hall. However, players, depending on their practice and match schedules may require lunch or dinner from their hosts.
Hosts are expected to provide their player with a private bedroom, access to a bathroom, and breakfast. Players may require access to the refrigerator, or use of the kitchen. You will get to specify your home, traditions (e.g. halal, kosher, vegetarian), pets (cat, dog…), limitations (no alcohol, no peanuts…), or requirements (e.g. must have own car) when you express your interest in hosting via the “If you are interested in hosting or driving” link above.
The ProAm will have volunteer drivers who can transport players from your home to practice and/or matches at the UR, when hosts are not available. Hosts are not required to drive players.
Host benefits: parking passes & invitation to Squash Social after quarter-final matches
The committee will also provide hosts with passes for parking at the UR when their players practice, and to watch matches. All hosts are invited to the Squash Social after the quarter final matches on Friday.
Volunteer to Drive
Players will need to be transported from the airport to their host, and vice versa; and transported between their host and the UR courts. This transportation is provided by ProAm volunteer drivers when the player’s host is not available. If you are interested in meeting ProAm players and driving them, please let us know when you’re available.
